CASE: Donald Nixon (Case #20FE013655)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Alexandra Sanders, Felony Trial Unit

Donald Nixon was convicted by a jury of assault with a deadly weapon.  The jury also found true allegations that Nixon personally used a deadly weapon and caused great bodily injury.

The victim told officers she and her friends were drinking and talking on the sidewalk in front of her apartment complex when her neighbor, Donald Nixon, attacked her.  Nixon threw a glass of wine in the victim’s face before smashing the glass on her head and slicing her face with the broken glass. The victim’s friends had to step in to stop Nixon’s attack. The victim was taken to the hospital, where she received deep sutures to repair damaged muscle and 30 stitches to repair the jagged cut to her face.

Nixon faces a maximum sentence of 8 years state prison.  Sentencing is set for May 19, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 12 before the Honorable Maryanne Gilliard.
