Defendant Convicted of Sexually Assaulting Five Girls
DATE: September 9, 2025
CASE: Mario Salinas (Case #24FE021217)
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Kendra Havlick, Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Unit
On September 3, 2025, Mario Salinas was convicted by a jury of 15 counts lewd or lascivious act on a child under 14 years old. The jury also found a multiple victim enhancement to be true and that the victims were particularly vulnerable; the crime was carried out in a manner that indicates planning, sophistication, or professionalism; and that Salinas took advantage of a position of trust or confidence.
Salinas was a trusted figure to five girls when he sexually assaulted them. The assaults took place from 2014 to 2024 when the victims were between the ages of 6 and 13 years old. Salinas performed various sex acts on the victims and showed several of them pornographic videos. Salinas told the victims that if they told anyone, they would be taken away by Child Protective Services. The abuse was eventually discovered.
Salinas faces a maximum sentence of 375 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for December 12, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 26 before the Honorable Benjamin Galloway.
Under current California law, Salinas (age 42) will become eligible for release at an Elder Parole hearing once he turns 50 years old and has served 20 years of his 375-years to life prison sentence. With his in-custody credits, that will be in approximately 19 years.
