The Honorable Steve White sentenced Jaylen Jordan to 25 years to life in prison.  On December 4, 2024, a jury convicted Jordan of the first-degree murder of Ja’von Phillips.

On October 18, 2020, law enforcement received a 911 call reporting multiple gunshots at the victim’s residence. Law enforcement arrived on scene and located the victim deceased with a gunshot wound in the back of his head. Several witnesses observed a burgundy sedan pull up to the scene and immediately heard gunshots. Another witness observed a male adult get out of the burgundy sedan’s passenger area, fire five to seven shots at the victim and return to the vehicle to leave the scene. The investigation led to the identification of Jaylen Jordan as the shooter. Further investigation placed Jordan in the area of the shooting at the time of the murder and revealed a message to his friend referencing the murder.
