PROSECUTOR: Supervising Deputy District Attorney Catrina Ranum
On March 14, 2025, the Honorable Steve White sentenced Nabil Elomari to 36 years to life in prison and required him to register as a sex offender for life. On January 22, 2025, Elomari pled to sodomy by force and two counts of rape by force.
In October 2022, the first victim was standing outside of her friend’s house when Elomari drove up in his car and got out to talk to her. He then offered to drive the victim home. While driving with the victim, Elomari suddenly pulled over on the side of the freeway. He then pulled out a knife and raped her. After the assault, Elomari let the victim go and fled. The victim went to a gas station and law enforcement was called. A CHP officer responded, but the victim got frustrated and the investigation stalled. In November 2022, the second victim was walking in downtown Sacramento early in the morning. Elomari approached the victim and invited her to warm up in his car. When the victim got into his car, Elomari drove to a secluded area. He then pulled out a knife and forcibly sodomized the victim before letting her out and fleeing. A CHP officer responded to the victim’s 911 call and took a report. In December 2022, CHP officers were looking for the vehicle described in the November rape. When they located a similar vehicle parked on the side of the freeway, they stopped to investigate. When they shined their light on the car, Elomari and the third victim came out of the car. The victim’s face was bruised, her pants were partially off and inside out, and her shoes were strewn about away from the car. The victim was hesitant to talk with officers and did not want to answer their questions. She was released from the scene and refused to participate in a forensic exam.
When CHP detectives realized similarities and connected the three assaults, they reopened the investigation into the first and third victim. Both reported a similar story of being tricked into getting into Elomari’s car and being sexually assaulted. All three victims identified Elomari as their rapist.
Under current California law, Nabil Elomari (age 26 ) will become eligible for release at an Elder Parole hearing once he reaches the age of 50 and only serves 20 years of his 36-years to life prison sentence, which will be in approximately 24 years.
