Defendant Sentenced for Sexually Assaulting Two Girls
DATE: October 15, 2024
CASE: Emilio Duran Jr. (Case #21FE002364)
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Wynn (Nguyen) Tran, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit
On October 11, 2024, the Honorable Steve White sentenced Emilio Duran to 152 years in prison. On August 2, 2024, Duran was convicted by a jury of 19 counts of forcible lewd act upon a child.
Duran sexually assaulted two girls starting when they were six and eight years old. The assaults included fondling and forced oral copulation. Both victims were in fear of Duran because he told them if they told anyone about the abuse, he would hurt their family. One of the victims disclosed the abuse to a family member after having a panic attack. The second victim then disclosed the abuse.
Under current California law, Duran (age 37) will become eligible for release at an Elder Parole hearing once he reaches the age of 50 and only serves 20 years of his 152-year sentence. With his in-custody credits, that will be in approximately 16 ½ years.
