On August 8, 2024, LeDonne Drake was convicted by a jury of second-degree murder. The jury found true the allegation that Drake discharged a firearm causing death. Drake was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The jury also found true that Drake has two prior strike convictions for burglary and robbery.
The victim, Traymond McCray, got into an argument with Drake’s father. The next day, Drake and his father went to the victim’s residence. The father had a gun and started yelling. The victim took his kids inside of the house. When the victim came out of the house, Drake shot him.
Drake faces a maximum sentence of 95 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for August 30, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 32 before the Honorable James Arguelles.
