On December 1, 2023, the Honorable Alexander Pal ordered Scott Smith to pay $50,102 in restitution for damages he caused from various graffiti tags in the County of Sacramento. On October 2, 2023, Smith pled no contest to two charges of felony vandalism.

Smith was a prolific tagger.  He repeatedly vandalized buildings in the City of Sacramento with graffiti, one of which caused more than $36,000 in damages.

Smith was sentenced to one year in county jail and two years formal probation with conditions that he not possess any instrumentalities associated with tagging; that he does not associate with any known taggers; that he abide by a curfew between 11:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.; and that he stay 300 yards away from the locations where he tagged.

The Sacramento Police Department and Downtown Sacramento Partnership were instrumental in the investigation and successful prosecution of this case.
