CASE: Edward Evan Hann (Case #22FE018981)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Heather Stephenson, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

Edward Evan Hann was convicted by a jury of three counts of lewd acts with a child under 14 with force or fear. The jury also found true that the crime involved great violence, or other acts disclosing high degree of cruelty, callousness or viciousness; the victim was particular vulnerable; Hann took advantage of a position of trust or confidence; and the crimes involved planning, sophistication, and professionalism.

Between October 2020 and October 2021, Hann got close to the victim and spent a lot of unsupervised time with her. When the victim was 8 years old, Hann sexually abused her on three consecutive nights. Hann used threats to keep the victim quiet and to discourage her from disclosing the abuse.  When the victim no longer had contact with Hann one year later, she told a friend what happened to her. That friend encouraged the victim to tell her mother.  The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case and apprehended Hann.

Allegations that Hann has three prior strike convictions for robbery will be determined at the sentencing hearing.

Hann faces a maximum sentence of 75 years in state prison.  Sentencing is set for December 15, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 41 before the Honorable Helena Gweon.
