DATE: August 28, 2023
CASE: Tyrice Martin (Case #21FE019167)
PROSECUTOR: Supervising Deputy District Attorney Chris Ore, Homicide Unit
On August 24, 2023, Tyrice Martin was convicted by a jury of second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and felon in possession of a firearm.
Seven-year-old Isabel went to a family member’s house with her parents. An intoxicated Clifford Hall was outside of the house and interacted with Isabel and her parents as they entered the house. Isabel’s uncle, Tyrice Martin, learned of Mr. Hall and went outside to confront him. Martin then discharged a gun in Mr. Hall’s direction, striking and killing Isabel. Martin shot multiple additional rounds at Mr. Hall, striking him in the back of the head and killing him. Martin was out on bail on a weapons offense and strike at the time of the killings.
An allegation that Martin has a prior strike conviction for assault with a deadly weapon will be determined at the sentencing hearing.
Martin faces a maximum sentence of 68 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for October 20, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 11 before the Honorable James McFetridge.
