CASE: Julian Twomey (Case #20FE003117)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Lauren Giles, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

Julian Twomey pled to oral copulation of a child 10 years or younger and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14. Twomey admitted that he personally inflicted great bodily injury on the victim. He also admitted to aggravating factors that the victims were particularly vulnerable and he had substantial sexual contact with a victim under the age of 14.

Twomey began sexually assaulting the first victim in 2016, when the victim was 7 years old.  The abuse continued until 2019, when the then 9-year-old victim was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease given to her by Twomey. This diagnosis led to the first victim’s disclosure of the abuse. An investigation into Twomey revealed a second victim. The second victim was approximately 8 years old at the time of the abuse and 11 years old at the time of disclosure.

Twomey faces a sentence of 40 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for August 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in Department 20 before the Honorable Michael Sweet.
