Ruben Lopez was convicted by a jury of eight counts of committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14, nine counts of committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14 with force, one count of rape of a child under the age of 14 and five counts of rape.

Lopez began sexually assaulting the first victim in 2012 when the victim was 11 years old.  The abuse continued until 2019 when the victim disclosed the abuse to her oldest sister. While assaulting the first victim, Lopez also began assaulting her younger sister when she was 12 years old.  Both victims reported the abuse in 2019.  The first victim was an adult at the time she disclosed.  The second victim was 16 years old at the time she disclosed.

Lopez faces a maximum sentence of 179 years to life in state prison.  Sentencing is set for April 14, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. in Department 32 before the Honorable James Arguelles.
