CASE: Angel Manuel (Case #20FE007227)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Quirina Orozco, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

On October 27, 2022, Angel Manuel was convicted by a jury of 18 counts of committing lewd acts upon a child. On November 7, 2022, Judge Matthew Gary found Manuel guilty of aggravating factors, including that the victim was particularly vulnerable when the crimes occurred and Manuel violated a position of authority and trust during the commission of the offenses.

On May 2, 2020, it was reported that Manuel was observed inappropriately touching an 11-year-old child. When officers interviewed the child, she confirmed that she felt someone touching her and stated the touching had been occurring regularly.  Manuel later admitted to engaging in multiple acts of lewd and lascivious acts with the child, including digital penetration, for one year. A search of Manuel’s cell phone revealed pornographic images and videos depicting adult males engaging in sexual acts with females with a young or youthful appearance.

Manuel faces a maximum sentence of 42 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for December 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Department 13 of the Sacramento Superior Court.
