Michael Womack was convicted by a jury of the second-degree murder of Greg Prescott. The jury also found true a use of weapon enhancement.
Womack and the victim had an altercation inside the home where the victim lived. The victim ran away from the home and Womack chased him with a decorative samurai sword. Womack caught the victim and stabbed and cut him multiple times with the sword. The victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Womack faces a maximum sentence of 16 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for December 17, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 25 before the Honorable Donald Currier.
