DATE: June 28, 2021

CASE: Ryan Manetta (Case #19FE019831)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney TeriAnn Grimes, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit

Ryan Manetta was convicted by a jury of assault with the intent to commit rape.

The victim was a mental health technician at a recovery center. In October of 2019, Manetta was admitted to the center for drug addiction.  The victim did her job and checked on Manetta every 15 minutes.  During one of the checks, the victim found Manetta lying on the lobby floor.  The victim assisted Manetta to his feet and was walking him back to his room when he attacked the victim. Manetta grabbed her around the waist, pushed his body weight against her, pulled her pants halfway down her legs and sexually assaulted her through her clothing.  The victim tried to fight Manetta off, but he was able to pull the victim to the ground and get on top of her.  The victim screamed and a co-worker ran down the hall, pushed Manetta off of the victim and put him in a choke hold until the victim could get away and call 911.

Manetta faces a maximum sentence of 6 years in prison and must register as a sex offender. Sentencing is set for July 30, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. in Department 36 before the Honorable Stephen Acquisto.
