Defendant Pleads to Child Sexual Assault Charges in Cyber Crimes Case

Daryl Cook pled to committing a sex act on a child under 10 years old and lewd and lascivious touching of a child under 14 years old.  Cook also admitted to a prior 1997 strike conviction for attempted murder.

A woman discovered nude images of her 7-year-old female relative on Cook’s phone and notified law enforcement.  When the Sacramento Hi-Tech Task Force conducted a search of Cook’s devices and social media, they found videos of Cook sexually abusing the child on multiple occasions when she was between the ages of 5 and 7 years old.  They also found images of Cook abusing a 7-year-old male child.

Cook faces a maximum sentence of 56 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for June 25, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 62 before the Honorable Michael Savage.
