Defendant Convicted of Murder, Use of Firearm

Leon Tucker, Jr. was convicted by a jury of the second-degree murder of Steven Matthews.  The jury also found true that Tucker personally used a firearm causing death.

On December 3, 2017, Tucker shot the victim in the head.  The victim, who was homeless, had assaulted Tucker the day before the murder.

Tucker faces a maximum sentence of 40 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for July 23, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 14 before the Honorable Tami Bogert.
