Repeat Indecent Exposure Offender Convicted of Child Sexual Assault

James Nelson was convicted by a jury of one count of child sexual assault and indecent exposure.
In 2017, Nelson was staying at the victim’s house. One night, Nelson entered the victim’s bedroom wearing just a robe. Nelson exposed his privates to her and then sexually assaulted her. The victim was about 11 years old at the time.
Nelson has previously been convicted of four separate indecent exposure offenses against four different victims in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Nelson faces a maximum sentence of 8 years and 8 months in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for September 11, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 62 before the Honorable Michael Savage.
