Defendant Sentenced for Domestic Violence Assault

Miguel Angel PinedaCruz was sentenced by the Honorable Shelleyanne Chang to 11 years and 4 months in prison.  On March 9, 2020, a jury convicted PinedaCruz of making criminal threats, assault with a firearm with a personal arming enhancement, making criminal threats while armed with a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine.

PinedaCruz became violent when the victim left him and he threatened her life.  He pistol whipped her with a semi-automatic firearm causing injury to her forehead.

PinedaCruz has prior convictions for transportation and sale of narcotics in 1994, burglary in 1998, escape from prison in 1998 and vehicle theft in 2007.
