CASE:  Randall Slaton (Case #19FE011498)

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Catrina Ranum, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

Randall Slaton was convicted by a jury of two counts of sodomy with a child 10 years old or younger; three counts of lewd act on a child with force, duress, menace, and/or fear; sexual penetration on a child 10 years old or younger and lewd act with a child under 14 years old.  The jury also found true that the defendant committed the charged offenses against more than one victim.

Slaton began sexually assaulting a family member when she was 5 years old. Slaton threatened to hurt the victim if she ever told anyone.  Due to the threats and an unstable home environment, the victim did not disclose the sexual abuse until approximately two years later when she was 7 years old.  During the investigation of these crimes, it was discovered that Slaton also molested a different relative when she was 10 years old.

Slaton faces a maximum sentence of 125 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for March 25, 2020, in Department 21 before the Honorable Shelleyanne Chang.
