Defendants Convicted for Murder and Attempted Murder of a Witness

Danqwail Jones was convicted by a jury of conspiracy to murder Deonte Whiteside, murder of Deonte Whiteside while armed with a firearm, and conspiracy to murder Moani Finch while armed with a firearm. Eddie Lewis was convicted of conspiracy to murder Moani Finch while armed with a firearm and attempted murder of Moani Finch, with allegations of premeditation and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury found true.

On June 22, 2016, Danqwail Jones obtained Moani Finch’s Snapchat credentials to contact Mr. Whiteside. The account was then used to lure Mr. Whiteside out of his home, where he was shot and killed. When Ms. Finch found out that Jones used her Snapchat account to set up Mr. Whiteside, she expressed her shock and confusion to Jones.  Jones told Ms. Finch to keep her mouth shut and instructed her to meet Lewis.  Lewis then picked up Ms. Finch, drove her to a park and shot her multiple times.  Ms. Finch survived her injuries.

Eddie Lewis faces a maximum sentence of 40 years to life in prison.  Jones faces a maximum sentence of 36 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for March 27, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 30 before the Honorable James McFetridge.
