CASE:  Brian Arnold (Case #18FE001123)

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney TeriAnn Grimes, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

Brian Arnold was convicted by a jury of 11 counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14, and three counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child 10 years old or younger.

Over the course of three years, Arnold groomed and sexually assaulted a male family member whenever he was alone with the victim during family events.  When the victim told his parents that he took a naked nap with Arnold, the parents became very concerned.  The victim refused to talk anymore and denied any touching had occurred.  When Arnold attended a family birthday party, the victim’s grandfather kept a close eye on Arnold.  When the grandfather saw Arnold take the victim to the park bathroom, he intervened.  The victim’s parents put the victim into counseling, where he ultimately disclosed the years of abuse he suffered at the hands of Arnold.

Arnold faces a maximum sentence of 71 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for November 22, 2019, in Department 34 before the Honorable Ernest Sawtelle.
