Jon Humes was convicted by a jury of seven counts of child sexual assault charges. The jury also found true a substantial sexual conduct allegation.
Humes was a family acquaintance of the victim. When the victim was 4 years old, Humes started sexually assaulting her. He bought the victim sex toys, sent her child pornography and continued to sexually assault her until she was 14 years old. In December 2015, the victim began cutting herself and was placed on a 5150 (involuntary psychiatric commitment) hold. At that time, she disclosed the abuse she had suffered for years.
Humes faces a maximum sentence of 37 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for April 3, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. in Department 11 before the Honorable Trena Burger-Plavan.
