David Rivera was convicted by a jury of 10 counts of committing a lewd act upon a child and one count of possessing or controlling child pornography.
The victim was 8 years old at the time and the daughter of one of Rivera’s friends. Rivera would often spend the night at the friend’s house. Two secured digital cards were found showing video and pictures of Rivera sexually assaulting the victim and another girl. Rivera later admitted that it was him in the photos.
An allegation that Rivera has a prior 2003 residential burglary strike conviction will be determined at sentencing.
Rivera faces a maximum sentence of 500 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for November 30, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 13 before the Honorable Matthew Gary.
