The Honorable Lawrence Brown sentenced Lamar Robinson to 4 years and 8 months in prison after Robinson pled to 8 counts of felony abuse.
On December 12, 2017, an apartment tenant was awakened to the screams of an animal. When the tenant went to her window, she witnessed Robinson repeatedly body slam a small dog against the ground, using a leash to increase the impact to the pavement. Robinson was also holding a second dog by its neck, and that dog appeared unconscious. The witness called 911 and Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Fowell responded. Robinson was arrested after the deputy encountered him ‘walking’ two dogs with obvious injuries, including a broken leg.
Radiographs of both dogs revealed multiple rib fractures in different stages of healing. Surveillance footage captured part of Robinson’s horrific crime.
The case was prosecuted by the recently-formed Sacramento County District Attorney’s Animal Cruelty Prosecution Unit, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and Sacramento County Animal Care and Regulation.
