CASE: Richard Craig Torres (Case #07F10409)

Richard Craig Torres was convicted by a jury of 18 counts of forcible lewd act upon a child, one count of lewd act upon a child and one count of forcible rape.

Torres sexually assaulted the female victim on a regular basis over the course of one year, starting in June 2005 when the victim was 13 years old.  In May 2007, the victim disclosed the sexual abuse to her mother.   In November 2007, Torres was notified about a warrant for his arrest.  The next day, he fled to Mexico, where he lived under an alias for 7 years.  In December 2014, the FBI received information about Torres’ whereabouts, which ultimately led to his apprehension.  In August 2015, Torres was extradited back to the United States to face charges.

Torres faces a maximum sentence of 160 years in prison.  Sentencing is set for March 23, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 39 before the Honorable David Abbott.
