The Honorable Michael Savage sentenced Shaquille Huston to life in prison without the possibility of parole. On November 1, 2017, a jury convicted Shaquille Huston and co-defendant Dayvon Stroupe of the first-degree murder of Vincent Amaya with a special circumstance of committing the murder during the course of a robbery. Stroupe was previously sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
On November 17, 2014, the victim met Shaquille Huston, Dayvon Stroupe and two additional unidentified assailants at the Florin Meadows Apartments to sell them marijuana. Huston, Stroupe and the two unidentified individuals attempted to rob the victim of his marijuana. During the course of this robbery, one of the four robbers shot and killed the victim.
