Gang Member Convicted for Attempted Murder of 3 Minors

Calvin Anthony Barron Jr. was convicted by a jury of three counts of attempted murder.  The jury also found true allegations that Barron committed the crimes for the benefit of the Oak Park Bloods, a criminal street gang, and that his fellow gang member discharged a firearm during the commission of the offenses causing great bodily injury. 

Calvin Anthony Barron is an Oak Park Blood gang member.  On May 12, 2016, Barron encountered three male minors from the Meadowview neighborhood.  Barron left the neighborhood and then drove back with another Oak Park Blood member. When they found the three boys, Barron slowed the vehicle while his gang associate fired four shots at the minors, striking one of them.  That victim was treated for two gunshot wounds and injuries to internal organs. The shooter is still outstanding.  

Barron faces a maximum sentence of 65 years to life in prison.   Sentencing is set for October 13, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 12 before the Honorable Maryanne Gilliard.
