District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announces student applications are now being accepted for the 4th Annual Youth Academy, a program in partnership with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento County Probation Department, Sacramento County Public Defender's Office, Rancho Cordova Police Department, Elk Grove Police Department and Galt Police Department.
Students will learn about the criminal justice system, hear from our criminal justice partners, and engage in open communication with law enforcement about issues that affect youth today.
Topics include: anatomy of a criminal case, race as a factor in the criminal justice system, use of force, gun violence, gangs, dating violence, human trafficking, marijuana, crime scene investigation and evidence, and distracted driving. A career fair will be held at graduation.
Academies will be held approximately twice a month in the evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at FOUR locations:

The program is open to current Sacramento County high school students. Students can apply for either the South, North, East or Elk Grove/Galt area academy by submitting a completed application, which can be downloaded at www.sacda.org. Space is limited and on a first come, first served basis.
