Defendant Sentenced for Marijuana Robbery Ending in Murder

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Caroline Park, Homicide Unit

The Honorable Michael Savage sentenced Dayvon Stroupe to life in prison without the possibility of parole.  On November 1, 2017, a jury convicted Stroupe and co-defendant Shaquille Huston of the first-degree murder of Vincent Amaya with a special circumstance of committing the murder during the course of a robbery. 

On November 17, 2014, the victim met Shaquille Huston, Dayvon Stroupe and two additional unidentified assailants at the Florin Meadows Apartments to sell them marijuana.  Huston, Stroupe and the two unidentified individuals attempted to rob the victim of his marijuana.  During the course of this robbery, one of the four robbers shot and killed the victim.

Shaquille Huston will be sentenced on December 19, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 33 before the Honorable Michael Savage.
